Today, I am commenting on Infinite H's "Pretty", which has been out for about a week now.
For many Inspirits, it has been a pretty tough wait since it has been years since their previous album, Fly High came out.
When I heard Infinite H was having a comeback, I was pretty excited too since their previous album Fly High was a pretty huge hit with "Special Girl" and "Without You" and I really liked that still preseved trendy 80s sound in their songs. In fact, I think tht is what separates Infinite with other Kpop groups; they just have a distinctly unique vibe to their songs.
As always, while Infinite sings pop songs, Infinite H had a distinct catchy hip hop sound as well as great dance moves. What differentiated "Pretty" from "Without You" and "Special Girl" was probably the comical story plot in the Music Video. Whereas the previous Infinite H songs were reflecting more emotions of the duo more seriously, in the MV, you see the duo having a lot of fun.
So here is how the plot of the MV goes: Dongwoo is a defendant and Hoya the prosecutor they are in court. A woman was convicted for causing many accidents. When the convict enters the court, the two guys fawns over her. In the end, the woman is deemed as innocent. However, she just leaves the court, leaving a broken hearted Dongwoo and Hoya behind since they kind of had fallen in love with her.
Them Bowing to the judge |
The lyrics though, is quite far off from the comical storyline of the MV. The lyrics are quite sentimal in expressing how a guy likes a girl to the point where he hates it when she looks away.
The style of the of the clothes and sets are very vibrant in colour. Such vibrant colours is a stark contrast to Infinite, who mostly has very dark concepts (except for Man In Love and Nothing's Over which had pastel colours) and mostly have very dark colours for their set.
I like how the melody of the chorus just blends in very nicely with the rap. Although they are rappers, the YaDong duo obviously can sing very well. The rappers of Infinite are really multi-talented, for they also took part in the lyrics writing of all the songs in the album.
The Music Video is very vibrant in colour on the whole |
The dance is also really awesomely choreographed and it shows off the charisma of the members really well. I also like how during the raps, the member that is rapping gets all the camera's focus but during the chorus the limelight is shared evenly by both members. On the whole, there seems to be quite an even distribution of lines for no one seems to have more lines than the other.
I have always quite liked Infinite so I did check out the rest of the album.. Although "Pretty" is considered a rather light-hearted and playful in nature, the album does have a few intense songs such as "Sorry I am Busy", which I am also liking very much. The album contains songs with sentimental lyrics that I believe many would love since Dongwoo and Hoya have taken part in the lyrics writing.
