The Unforgetable Flood
Though I have tried to block you off my mind,
There are too many visual reminders,
Our pictures, our texts,
Whom act like keys,
Unlock all the out-of-bounds memories,
Bursting them through the dams that
I had painstakingly built,
Reminding me of the few lettered words that used to
Sum all of us up
Into a single unit of hope,
Like one heart beat,
Contractions and relaxations complementing one another
So harmonious like iib Ic V 1
which even Mozart was so fond of
But the flood of memories rushes by
The impact that hit me is no longer felt
against my numb body
I turn a round
All three hundred and sixty degrees
and realise I am alone
You are all gone
And my eyes start to flood up
Again
And it bursts through the dams of my eyelashes.
